ingredients

The key ingredients in each Little Me product are organic, such as organic lavender (Sleepy Head, Moisture Babies) and organic mandarin in Yipeee Playtime. Vegetable oils (Sunflower Seed Oil and Olive Oil) in the products are also organic. These act as carriers for the essential oils, allowing them to penetrate into the skin faster, and therefore adding to the overall effect of the ingredients.

ingredients glossary

  • Borage Oil (Borago officinalis)

Otherwise called starflower, this soothing oil is rich in Gamma Linoleic acid (GLA), which is an essential fatty acid that helps to care for and nourish dry and problem skin. A lack of this essential fatty acid is one of the causes of extremely dry skin and eczema.

  • Calendula Oil (Calendula Officinalis)

Traditionally used for its healing properties as it is naturally anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Ideal for skin irritation caused by chaffing, wind, cold or dry air or dry, itchy, cracked skin. Rich in vitamins and minerals, this essential oil carries a multitude of benefits.

  • Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)

One of the favourites amongst garden herbs, renowned for its potent yet pleasant aroma. Found wild in Cornwall, Surrey and other parts of England. Ancient medicinal uses of this herb are endless, with the most common being anti-flammatory, antiseptic and softening. Little Me has captured the benefits in a jar so it can be administered as a compress for comforting and external healing.

  • Dill (Anethum graveolens)

This has long been cultivated for its medicinal properties. Traced back 5000 years where Egyptian doctors recognized the health benefits, it is still widely used today and very well known for also being used in gripe water to calm colic and wind. Little Me has incorporated it in the Sleepy Head range to help lull babies to sleep by aiding digestive problems: often a reason for poor sleep.

  • Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)

Jojoba oil helps the natural healing of skin in many ways and is widely used for the maintenance of healthy skin. It is composed of wax esters rather than oil which are very close to the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and rarely causes allergic reactions. It is also packed full of important nutrients such as vitamin E, copper and zinc.

  • Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)

Lavender’s soothing qualities are well known to promote restful sleep. ‘Lavender’ comes from the Latin word ‘lavare’ meaning to wash. Lavender is surely the most versatile of all essential oils and along with it’s relaxing properties, it is one of the most efficient oils for fighting germs and bacteria, thus the word ‘lavare’ to wash or clean. It is a highly aromatic herb effective in cleansing, calming and balancing the body. Aromatherapy with Lavender slows activity of the nervous system, promotes relaxation thereby improving sleep quality.

  • Mandarin (Citrus nobilis)

Mandarin oil has a unique fruity aroma which is invigorating and uplifting. In France, Mandarin is known as the ‘childrens oil’. It is also renowned for its astringent properties which make it beneficial for skin tone, and packed with natural antioxidants which help protect the skin.

With a fresh floral scent, Neroli oil clears the mind and brightens moods. It also has soothing properties that enhance skin tone and relieve stress and is traditionally used in bridal bouquets to calm nerves.

  • Olive Oil (Olea europaea)

Used externally, Olive oil, bursting with vitamins and antioxidants claims to soften and firm skin tissue. It can soothe the drying effects of water.

  • Rose (Rosa damascene)

The sweet, nurturing aroma of Rose oil will inspire a sense of well-being. The mild astringent and toning properties make it a perfect ingredient for bathing products suitable for Mum and baby. Classically romantic and feminine, it is also said to help expel anger, delivering you to a calm, balanced state.

  • Rose Hip (Rosa mosqueta)

The essential oil derived from the fruit of the rose plant, which is native in Chile, is commonly used externally to help restore skin firmness. Rich in Retinoic acid, a derivative of Vitamin E, it is renowned for the rejuvenating and regenerating properties. It nourishes and acts as an astringent to skin tissue to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scar tissue.

  • Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii)

It is produced from the nut of the Shea Tree which is grown in the West African Savannah region. The yellow-white coloured paste has been used by African healers for thousands of years to alleviate skin problems. It is particularly valuable in the treatment of dry skin and so Little Me has incorporated this miracle ingredient into its Moisture Babies range for your little one and into its Mum to Be range, to look after you during and after pregnancy.

  • Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus)

Sunflower oil has many suggested skin health benefits. Like other oils it retains moisture in the skin and research suggests it can provide a protective barrier against infection particularly for under developed skins.

  • Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis)
