Happy New Year

We made it to 2012 – Happy New Year to you all!
I am really excited about 2012; it’s already lining up to be a great year. We are kicking things off with a weekend in London at the end of the month to celebrate a friend’s 30th. Rory will be staying with his Aunt , marking the first time we have ever spent a night apart so I have slightly mixed feelings about this one. However I am very excited at the prospect of wearing heels and not Weetabix for a solid 48 hours!
In addition we have just heard that one of Nick’s cousins is getting married in September so that means a big Hungarian wedding in Budapest and the following weekend Nick’s Mum turns 60. We also have tickets to the Olympics (men’s athletics semi-finals) and have promised ourselves 2012 is the year we take a proper holiday, we are currently eyeing up Cape Town. So all in all much to look forward to.
Today is Rory’s first day back at nursery after the Christmas break and he returns taller, heavier (having developed a keen interest in mince pies) and sporting a bowl cut fringe courtesy of Daddy and some dress making scissors!
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind and I am really excited about a return to the old routines. Yesterday was our first day back at swimming class which was a mixed bag. I don’t know whether it was the new wetsuit (too big) or the old swim shorts (too small) but Rory spent the first five minutes in floods of tears before going to the opposite extreme of trying to swim underwater – constantly. We tried armbands for the first time which went well (and looked very cute) so I think we may now venture poolside on our own…
Have a great week and our very best wishes for a happy year ahead, Emma & Rory x
